The Ithaca College men’s tennis team took home a win with a score of 9–0 and delivered Nazareth College’s first loss in the Empire 8 Conference.
The Bombers won all six singles matches and the three doubles matches. Every player won at singles and doubles, only losing one set.
Freshman Stefan Lazarevic won the first singles match of his career in the sixth flight, while junior Nate Wolf obtained a three-set win at third singles. Wolf won 6–0 but lost the second, 2–6. He was then able to redeem himself to win the third set 6–2.
Senior Chris Hayes picked up a 6–0, 6–1 win at first singles, while teammate Wes Davis won 6–1, 6–1 at second singles against senior Scott Trobert.
Junior Brandon Buksbaum had a setback at fourth singles, 6–3, 6–3, while fellow Bomber Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos overtook freshman Lamar Hurt by 6–1, 6–4 at fifth singles.
Viguie-Ramos and Davis paired up and won 8–6 over senior Tyler Williams and Hurt during the first doubles while Lazarevic and Hayes brought home another win at second doubles. Wolf and Buksbaum obtained a 9–7 win in the third flight against Nazareth’s Trobert and freshman Ryley Amond.
Hayes said he was happy with the team’s performance for the day.
“It was good to get back to our winning ways today after a tough weekend. It was really nice to see Stefan pick up his first career singles win. Now we just gotta move forward to Alfred and Houghton this weekend,” Hayes said.
The Bombers’ next matchup will be against Alfred University at 4 p.m. April 15 in Alfred, New York.
