The Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team extended its winning streak to four games April 16 with a 21–7 road blowout victory against Empire 8 Conference opponent Hartwick College.
Senior midfielder Riley Marion led the team with six goals and junior attackman Morgan Racicot and freshman midfielder Allison Panara led the team with three assists a piece in their fifth Empire 8 victory of the season.
Junior midfielder Morgan Cadwell started the game off quickly for the South Hill squad. Cadwell scored the team’s first goal 1:27 seconds into the game, which was followed by freshman attackmen Danika Wagener scoring a goal 21 seconds later to give the Bombers a quick 2–0 lead.
Hawks sophomore attackman Ashley Werner would answer quickly to Wagener’s goal, scoring immediately to cut the Bomber lead in half. The two teams would then trade goals for several minutes to make it 5–4 Bombers with 15 minutes to go in the half. However, that would be as close as the game would get for the Hawks, as the Bombers offense would go to work.
Starting with Marion’s first goal of the game, the Bombers went on a 10–1 run to finish the half and go into halftime up 15–5. Marion scored back-to-back-to-back goals in a 1:09 second span.
The Bombers would score six more goals in the second half and continued to outplay the 4–7 Hawks. Bombers goaltenders junior Emily Ross and sophomore Kimberly Presuto continued their strong defensive combination, splitting time in the win and totaling three saves.
With the victory, the Bombers move to 5–0 in the Empire 8 and 9–3 overall with four regular season games remaining in the teams schedule. The Bombers still control first place in the Empire 8 with two conference games to play.
The Bombers return to the field 5 p.m. April 19 in Clinton, New York, for a non-conference matchup against Hamilton College.
