Women’s track and field places eighth at NCAA Championships

On the third and final day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships May 28, two Bombers competed and rounded out the team’s season. The women’s team tied for eighth overall with 20 points, its second best finish in school history.

Sophomore Grace Ryan, a late addition to the qualifying individuals for triple jump, placed 18th overall. Her furthest jump of the day, which was reached on her first attempt, hit 11.31 meters.

The final competitor for the Blue and Gold, sophomore Taryn Cordani competed in the 5,000-meter run. On her third trip to nationals for track and field, Cordani placed 15th clocking in at 17:27.27. First place finisher was senior Amy Regan from Stevens Institute of Technology. Finishing a minute earlier than Cordani, Regan won her second national title of the meet and fourth total.

This meet has concluded the Bombers season, leaving with two national champions and two all-americans, juniors Brandy Smith and Katherine Pitman.
