The Ithaca College men’s soccer dropped a 5–1 contest to the Hamilton College Continentals. The Continentals broke the game open early and applied offensive pressure throughout, lowering the Bombers to 3–4 on the season.
The Bombers entered the game without allowing a goal in its last three contests, while Hamilton had managed only two goals five games this season.
The Continentals netted five goals, three in the first half, while executing near flawless defensive play to earn the win.
Hamilton senior midfielder Alex Cadet scored after only 7:10 of play, giving the Continentals an early 1–0 lead. Later in the half, junior midfielder Killian Clancy and sophomore forward Rowan Myers netted shots to give Hamilton a comfortable 3–0 halftime lead.
The Bombers offense struggled as well, managing just one corner kick and taking only two shots on goal in the first half. In the second half, sophomore midfielder Zachary Lichtman scored the Blue and Golds only goal of the evening off a free kick. Goals from Hamilton freshman midfielder Jefri Schmidt and another goal from Myers rounded out the game.
Ithaca senior goalkeeper Zach Jacobson finished with six saves off 11 shots on goal, while three goalkeepers entered the game for Hamilton.
The Bombers will play again at 3 p.m. Sept. 24 against Nazareth College on Carp Wood Field.
