IC sculling team opens season at Cayuga Sculling Sprints

The Ithaca College sculling team opened its season Sept. 25 at the Cayuga Sculling Sprints on the Cayuga Inlet. There were 17 boats competing in 2k time trials and 1k head-to-head races.

Seniors Maddie Petersen, Lynn Smith, Emily Vosburg and Jacqueline McDevitt, and junior Colby D’Onofrio placed first in their class. They finished in 15:53.0, the fastest time of the day.

Seniors Maeve Berry and Rebecca Veninsky, junior Libby Burns and sophomores Lindsey Caliga and Tatiana Garvin finished in second with a time of 16:22.7.

Juniors Savannah Brija and Karina Feitner raced in the open 2 and placed first with a combined time of 16:14.7. Juniors Emily Campagna and Katie Lawson finished first in the lightweight 2x with a time of 17:06.2.

In the open single, freshman Jennie Brian won her first race as a Bomber, crossing the finish line in 18:32.8. Senior Tara Malone placed second behind Brian, with a time of 19:17.4.

In the lightweight single, senior captain Rachel Dowd finished with a time of 19:10.9 in second place.

The Bombers will continue their season at 11 a.m. Oct. 2 at the Green Mountain Head Regatta in Putney, Vermont.
