The Ithaca College women’s tennis team snapped Hartwick College’s winning streak by defeating the Hawks 9–0 Sept. 28 in Oneonta, New York.
The Bombers won all three doubles matches. Senior Haley Kusak and sophomore Caroline Dunn won the first-flight 8–1. In the second-flight, freshman Brianna Ruback and sophomore Taylor Ginestro won 8–6 in the closest match in doubles play. Senior Maddie Overholt and sophomore Kathryn Shaffer won 8–0 in the third-flight tandem.
In the singles matches, Shaffer won 6–0, 6–0 over her opponent, senior Caitlin O’Brien. Kusak won 6–2, 6–1 over junior Heidi Rice.
Ruback won her match 6–0, 6–0 over sophomore Rose Natoli. The closest singles match was between Dunn and junior Kelly Napolitano, but Dunn prevailed 6–2, 6–3. Overholt won her match 6-2, 6-1 over Jaclyn LaSita. Senior Jodi Grosberg defeated junior Kelli Ryan 6–3, 6–1.
The Bombers return to the courts against Nazareth College at 1 p.m. Oct. 1 in Rochester, New York.
