The Ithaca College women’s basketball team lost its first game of the season 66–58 to the Connecticut College Camels on Dec. 2. The Bombers are now 4–1 on the season while Connecticut improves to 5–1.
The Bombers got off to a strong start and ended the first half leading the Camels 29–25. However, they were unable to hold the lead and were outscored in the second half 41–29.
Senior guard Ali Ricchiuti led the Bombers in scoring with 14 points, and contributed one steal. In the Bombers 12–1 run in the first seven minutes of the game, Ricchiuti scored half of those points.
Strong off the glass for the Blue and Gold was senior forward Erin Ferguson, who led with nine rebounds. Ferguson also contributed 11 points.
Junior forward and guard Julie Yacovoni added to all areas of the stat sheet. Yacovoni put up six points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Although the Blue and Gold received strong play from many members of the team, it was not enough to take down the Camels. Out–rebounding the Camels 46–38 proved not to be enough, as Connecticut outshot the Bombers 38.6 percent to 31.3 percent.
The Bombers are looking to turn things around when they step back on the court to face Vassar College at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 in Poughkeepsie, New York.
