Susan Engelkemeyer announced yesterday that she would be continuing her position at Ithaca College as the dean of the School of Business.
Last week, The Ithacan Online reported Engelkemeyer was a finalist for business school deanships at Bentley College in Waltham, Mass., and Providence College in Providence, R.I.
Engelkemeyer said she has withdrawn from one finalist pool and the other is no longer available to her.
Engelkemeyer said she would keep an open mind about any future offerings, but she plans to stay at Ithaca College for now.
“I am not looking for any other positions at this time to further my career,” Engelkemeyer said.
Kathleen Rountree, provost and vice president for academic affairs said Engelkemeyer informed her yesterday that she would remain at the college.
“I look forward to joining her to celebrate the opening of the new business building and to her continued leadership in the college,” she said.
Engelkemeyer sent an e-mail to faculty and staff yesterday to inform them of her most recent decision.
Scott Erickson, associate professor and chair of marketing and law, said he had not been aware the dean was considering other positions but was glad she will remain at the college.
“She’s gotten most of the funding for the new building, and she’s in the midst of installing the curriculum,” Erickson said.
