The women’s cross-country team finished 21st out of 44 teams in yesterday’s Paul Short Run at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
This was the Blue and Gold’s largest race of the season thus far, as they competed against schools such as the College of the Holy Cross, the University of Tampa, and the invitational champion, Iona College.
Senior captain Heidi Baumbach placed 31st out of 386 runners with a time of 23:03 in the six-kilometer race. Freshman Alexa Rick was the next Bomber to cross the finish line, completing the race 98th overall with a time of 23:55.
Junior Carly Graham and freshman Anastasia Diamond also placed in the top half of runners. Graham finished in 24:05 for 116th place, while Diamond placed 151st with a time just 14 seconds ahead. Senior Molly Quinn rounded out the Bombers’ top five, finishing 165thwith a time of 24:28.
The South Hill squad’s collective time was still under two hours.
Some of the Bombers will open up the month of October with the Cazenovia Invitational today, while the entire squad will run in the Hamilton Invitational next week in Clinton, N.Y.
