The women’s cross-country team defended its Empire 8 Conference crown today and solidified its dominance with an ninth consecutive conference title.
The team recorded a season best 19 points as they placed 12 runners in the top 16, seven of which finished in the top 10.
Graduate student Alissa Kersey and senior Heidi Baumbach both clocked in at the same time of 18:26. But Kersey just edged out Baumbach, making it her first meet victory of the season.
Freshman Alexa Rick and senior Molly Quinn were also within one second of one another, as they finished fourth and fifth with times of 18:54 and 18:55 respectively.
Freshman Anastasia Diamond finished seventh overall in a time of 19:11, rounding out the Blue and Gold’s top five.
The South Hill squad will compete in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships on Nov. 12at St. Lawrence University.
