The baseball team won its first game of the season yesterday, defeating the Mount Saint Mary College Knights 9–2 in Yaphank, N.Y.
The Bombers took an early lead by scoring five runs in the second inning, three of which came off a home run by senior infielder Mike Preite. Preite also hit a two-run double in the seventh inning off Knights sophomore reliever Chris O’Connor.
Sophomore shortstop Tim Locastro picked up four hits to lead the offense.
Junior pitcher Pat Lemmo threw a complete game for the Blue and Gold, shutting down the Knights for seven innings and allowing two runs on five hits while striking out 11 batters.
The Bombers are now 1—1 on the season.
