The men’s soccer team suffered an opening-day loss Saturday against Brandeis University. The Bombers lost 3-0 to the Judges in the first day of competition in the Xara Classic, a tournament hosted by Keene State College in Keene, N.H.
Senior forward Lee Russo scored his first goal for the Judges in the first half off of a cross from sophomore midfielder Tyler Savonen. Russo then tallied his second goal in the 56th minute off of a rebound given up by the Blue and Gold’s sophomore keeper Jordan Gentile. Brandeis rounded off its scoring in the 67th minute when freshman defender Josh Hacunda knocked a loose ball into the back of the net.
Sophomore forward Tim Goldman led the Bombers on offense with two shots, while six other players had one each. Gentile had three saves before freshman Kenny Chapman came into the game to play the final 11:31 in net.
