This Week in Ithaca College History
What was The Ithacan reporting 45 years ago?
During the week of Nov. 22, 1968, The Ithacan ran a front-page article about a state aid law that financially rewarded private colleges for their graduating classes. Under this 1968 law, the college would receive $400 for each student graduating with a Bachelor of Arts or Master of Arts degree and $2,400 for a student with a doctor’s degree. To receive this compensation, the college had to apply and submit reports to the state education commissioner.
