This Week in Ithaca College History
What was The Ithacan reporting 30 years ago?
On Oct. 25, 1984, The Ithacan ran a front-page article on the one-year anniversary of the U.S. invasion of the Caribbean island nation of Grenada. The U.S. government invaded because it thought the 100 U.S. medical students on the island were in danger. To mark the one-year anniversary of the invasion, members of the Ithaca College community held a rally called “Teach-In on the Truth of Grenada,” which was aimed to counteract what some students felt was “blind nationalism” regarding the invasion.
