What’s happening this weekend
The events you won’t want to miss
1. The Park Center for Independent Media is sponsoring “Dinner and Two Movies” with Jim Miller ’85, executive director of Brave New Films. The screening is from 4–7 p.m. Friday in Park Auditorium and includes “War on Whistleblowers: Free Press and the National Security State” and “Unmanned: America’s Drone Wars.”
2. The Danbees will perform at 9 p.m. Friday at The Gates with opening act 4point0. Admission is $5 for people over 21 and $7 for people under 21.
3. Active Minds, a mental health advocacy group on campus, is holding a Thanksgiving Turkey Egg Hunt at 11:30 a.m. Saturday on the second floor of Williams Hall. The group will hide eggs that contain candy and positive messages about mental health throughout the floor. Admission is $3 per person, and all proceeds go to Active Minds.
4. SAB is screening the film “Elysium” at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Textor 102. The film is set in the future where the wealthy live on a man-made space station, and the rest of the population lives on a decimated Earth.

1. The administration’s recent decision to replace the TC Lounge with a new office for Information Technology Services has sparked a movement among students to keep the lounge open. Students are speaking out against the decision via Facebook as well as organizing surveys and petitions. Read here for more about the decision to close the lounge.

Opinion: As Tompkins County moves forward on plans to create a curbside compost pickup program, it has become apparent that the college’s compost collection can still be improved. While students can compost their food scraps when they eat in the dining halls or IC Square, they have nowhere to compost in their dorms. Read about our suggestion to remedy this situation here.
Sports: Dominique Lessard, senior captain of the women’s crew team, is back on the water after recovering from a back injury sustained during her sophomore year. Lessard said she views her injury as a learning experience and, despite missing the 2012–13 season, was very much a part of her crew team.
Accent: The indie-pop band Guster performed last weekend in Emerson Suites. The concert drew a crowd of more than 450 students. The show also featured a warm-up from the student band Second Dam. Read our coverage of the band’s visit here.
