On Feb. 21, the Ithaca College’s gymnastics team took on No. 14 Rhode Island College for its second to last dual meet of the season. At the meet, the Bombers finished with a score of 164.050, putting them behind Rhode Island’s 179.275.
There were a number of individual high scores, as well as personal bests achieved. Three of the girls were placed first in their individual events of balance beam, uneven bar and floor.
Junior Lynley Choate won the balance beam, scoring 9.575, .300 ahead of the next closest competitor.
On the floor exercise, the Bombers swept the top two places. Senior Megan Harrington won the event with a score of 9.450, followed by freshman Victoria Gery with a score of 9.375. Gery matched her career best in the event.
On the uneven bar, sophomore Danielle Maffuid won with a score of 9.450, the best in her career. Teammate sophomore Kendra Balcerak finished close behind in third with a score of 9.1.
The South Hill squad will be hosting five teams at 1 p.m. Feb. 28 for the Harriet Marranca Memorial Invitational in Ben Light Gymnasium. This meet will be its last meet before the East Region Championships on March 6.
