The Ithaca College field hockey team lost an Empire 8 matchup to Hartwick College 3–2 in overtime Oct. 15 in Oneonta, New York. Hartwick improves to 10–3 overall and 4–2 in the Empire 8 Conference. The Bombers record now drops below .500, to 5–6 overall and 3–3 in Empire 8.
The Bombers outshot the Hawks 33–11, and had 20 shots on goal. Senior forward Cassie Schuttrumpf scored 15 minutes into the game to give the Bombers a 1–0 lead. Hartwick then responded with two goals, one each from senior forward Rebecca Reilly and freshman midfielder Maria Stadler.
Senior forward Colleen Keegan-Twombly tied up the game in the second half. The game then went to overtime, where Stadler scored her second goal of the game to give Hartwick the win.
Senior goalkeeper Katie Lass finished the game with three saves.
The Bombers return to action next at 4 p.m. Oct 18, with an out of conference matchup against Susquehanna University at Higgins Stadium.
