The ninth-ranked Ithaca College wrestling team ventured Feb. 6 to Williams College for a quad meet, coming away with three easy victories.
The Bombers defeated Wesleyan University 36–8, SUNY Oneonta 39–3 and delivered 16th-ranked Williams a 34–3 blow.
Junior co-captain Jimmy Kaishian and sophomore Nick Velez each won all three of their respective matches on the day, while senior Dan Pak, juniors Matt Booth, Carlos Toribio and Nick Wahba, sophomore Jaison White and freshmen Jake Ashcraft and Ferdinand Mase won a couple of matches each for the Bombers.
Against Wesleyan, Kaishian posted a 16–6 major decision win at 125 lbs., Mase took home a 2–1 win in sudden victory at 133 lbs., Pak came out on top 4–0 at 149 lbs. and Velez earned a pin in 2:38 at 165 lbs.
Sophomore Chris Wymer breezed through his match, winning 16–1 by technical fall in just over three minutes at 141 lbs. Toribio earned a pin in 2:23 to win at 184 lbs., while Ashcraft won 5–3 at 197 lbs. and Booth gained a victory via forfeit at 285 lbs.
Taking on in-state rival Oneonta, the Blue and Gold recorded five decision victories combined with four pins to overcome the Red Dragons. Kaishian recorded a 3–1 win at 125 lbs., senior Henry Beaman added a 2–1 win at 133 lbs. and Wahba snuck away with a 3–2 decision at 141 lbs.
The Four pins from freshman Jawan Jones, Velez, Toribio, and senior Zack Conner helped seal the deal for the Bombers with Conner winning in the most dominant fashion, after just 39 seconds.
White compiled that with a sudden victory, 4–2 decision at 174 lbs., while freshman Jake O’Brien won by a 1–0 score to round out the scoring.
In the last match of the event, the Bombers recorded six decision wins, one major decision, one pin and one forfeit victory against Williams.
Kaishian won 9–6, Mase recorded a 10–4 victory, Wahba won 6–4 and Pak took home an 8–6 decision.
Senior co-captain Eamonn Gaffney blanked his opponent 6–0 at 157 lbs., Velez earned a 4–1 win, White pinned his opponent in 2:28, Ashcraft won by a 12–3 major decision and Booth closed it out with a win by forfeit.
The Bombers will travel for a dual match at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 at to 18th-ranked Wilkes University.
