Dish Duty

The SGA question of the week this Wednesday was “When you were younger, what was your dream job?”

It got me thinking. Jobs have been on my mind a lot lately, in fact earlier that night I had applied to work at Maxie’s Supper Club.

“Hi, I saw an ad on Craig’s List that you were hiring,” I said when I got the bar tender’s attention.

“Yeah, we are. Do you have any serving or waiting experience,” he asked.

“I would like to be your dishwasher,” I said.

I ended up taking the application home, because it was long and I wanted to go get a burrito. That night I started filling it out.

“How would your friends describe you?” it asked.

“Dishwasher,” I wrote. I followed it up with, “just kidding, but seriously.”

I have always loved industrial dishwashers, since I saw my first one at camp one summer.

It might seem strange, but when I think of exactly what I would want to be doing, job wise, right now, washing dishes comes to mind. Thinking about the SGA question, when I was younger I don’t know what I wanted to do. Probably a professional in liking the color blue.
