The Sky is Pink

I know I’m late with this, but it’s definitely important enough to warrant a second mention.

Josh Fox, director of the Oscar nominated film “Gasland,” released a second, shorter documentary over the summer.

Following in its predecessor’s footsteps, the new film – a 20 minute piece called “The Sky is Pink” – depicts the dangers of hydraulic fracturing and disputes the claims of industry leaders who say the practice is safe.

This is a salient national issue, but even more so for New York – a state that lies on one of the largest natural gas reserves in the country. Governor Andrew Cuomo is considering lifting the moratorium on drilling that has been in place since 2010.

Fox does a good job, as he did in his first film, avoiding getting bogged down in politics. Instead, he makes his arguments visually and supports them with solid facts. So whichever side of the aisle you stand on, you should definitely check this out.
