While sports teams have professional athletic trainers, performing arts students have access to a community resource called the Performing Arts Walk-In Clinic. The clinic, which is over 30 years old, is a service dedicated to helping performing arts students on Ithaca College’s campus with performance-related injuries.
Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller lead an expert team of creatives to the stars in the highly anticipated adaptation of Andy Weir’s hard sci-fi bestseller “Project Hail Mary.” The movie, which blasted into theaters March 20 with a record-breaking opening weekend, has all the hallmarks of a Weir classic: accurate science, nailbiting tension and shamelessly brilliant characters.

Ithaca residents emerged from their dreary hibernation March 7 for Downtown Ithaca’s 28th Annual Chili Cook-Off, a day of warm weather and fiery mouths. For the first time, Ithaca College’s Dining team participated in the contest independently, winning both Best Vegetarian/Vegan Chili and the People's Choice Award.
“Stationed at Home,” the debut feature film written and directed by Daniel V. Masciari ’15, premieres at Cinemapolis on The Commons on March 19. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker and several cast members.
On an average Thursday evening at Ithaca College, it would not be unusual to find IC Square populated with students working on group projects, catching up with friends, or finishing up a late lunch from the Food Court. But on the evening of March 5, the Bureau of Concerts and IC Young Feminist Collective transformed the communal space into a concert venue for their Women’s History Month concert.

On the rainy evening of March 4, film enthusiasts packed into theater five of Ithaca’s own independent movie theater, Cinemapolis. Instead of watching a new release like the other theaters in the building, the crowd was there for something special.
On a rainy, warm winter night at Ithaca College, a fiesta brought music, celebration and joy to Emerson Suites and IC Square. The first ever Carifiesta, a combination of the words “Caribbean” and “Fiesta,” took place March 7. The event aimed to uplift Caribbean and Latino culture and voices in the form of a vibrant celebration at Ithaca College and was a collaboration between IC Haitians, Poder: Latinx Student Association and IC International Club.

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s long-awaited second film, “The Bride!” was released in theaters worldwide March 6. With the award season buzz surrounding Guillermo Del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” which released Oct. 17, and other remakes of classic monster films like Robert Eggers’ “Nosferatu” performing quite well a few years ago, Gyllenhaal’s remake of “The Bride of Frankenstein” feels like it was released at the perfect time.
Harry Styles has let the light in and beautifully emulated love in its truest form with his fourth studio album, “Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.” The album was released March 6, and was Styles’ first studio album since his Album Of The Year, “Harry’s House” in 2022. In true Harry fashion, the English singer/songwriter has returned with a style that is simply unmatched.
Director Baz Luhrmann surprised film buffs and rock ‘n’ roll fans alike with the announcement of his newest film, “EPiC (Elvis Presley in Concert),” as a follow-up to his 2022 biopic “Elvis.” Luhrmann used previously unseen footage to compile a collection of Elvis’ most heartfelt behind-the-scenes moments and bedazzling performances.
“Milkweed” is an introspective exploration of the commonalities between physics and theater, both as educational disciplines and bases for existential thought about mortality, purpose and human legacy. Evaluating the “charged space between students and teachers,” the plot follows two parallel dynamics: a renowned physicist receiving acting lessons from his graduate acting student, who is taking his class as an elective, and a theater professor mentoring a physics student with a growing passion for acting.
