IC becomes first New York college affiliated with organization promoting positive decision making

Ithaca College Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) is a student-led outreach club that focuses on traffic safety, substance abuse prevention, decision making and personal health and wellness. It is the first college chapter in New York state to be officially registered with the national organization.
Walters Whaleness Express offers five kits for students to order: a sexual health supply kit that includes dental dams, lubricant and condoms; a sleep kit that includes sleep masks and herbal teas; a substance use supply kit that includes tolerance break guides, fentanyl and xylazine tests, tick kits; and quit kits used to start quitting smoking or vaping. 
Center for Health Promotion increases access to free health supplies through private mail orders

In an attempt to provide free, anonymous resources for sexual, mental and physical health, the Center for Health Promotion announced the creation of Walter’s Whaleness Express on March 21.  Michelle Goode, program director for the CHP, said as of April 10, there have been 95 orders for kits on campus so far and the majority of students chose to have the kits delivered to the mail lockers.

Anne Hogan, dean of the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, announced her departure from Ithaca College in an email sent to the campus community on April 8. Hogan was the first dean of the unified School of MTD.
Stanley Bazile, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, will work  to  provide leadership and strategic direction to professional staff and student employees to enhance student engagement, leadership and success.

President La Jerne Cornish announced April 4 that Stanley Bazile will be the new vice president for Student Affairs and Campus Life at Ithaca College and will join the college June 10.

Ithaca College’s Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity (CSCRE) organized a Discussion Series event April 3 with members of the Gayogo̱ hó:nǫˀ Learning Project for the first time since Spring 2023.
The faculty council heard the Provost report and study abroad updates from Rachel Gould, senior director of study abroad in the Office of International Programs April 2. 
Faculty Council votes to have a 'not applicable' choice in student statements

Ithaca College’s Faculty Council met April 2 to clarify definitions relating to types of appointments and faculty evaluation within Sections 4.9 and 4.12 of the Faculty Handbook. The council also voted upon adding a “not applicable” choice in standardizing student statement evaluations, which are collected from students toward the end of each semester for feedback on courses.

Members of Ithaca College and greater Ithaca communities are turning their attention to the sky as they prepare for a total solar eclipse that will pass through Central New York on April 8. The last total solar eclipse in Central New York was in 1925.
