A former Ithaca College student, Jonathan D’Agostino, was declared missing by the New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation Department Sept. 10. Video footage showed him leaving the IC campus around 6:30 a.m. Sept. 7, according to the missing person release. An IC spokesperson told Syracuse.com he last attended IC in Fall 2023.

Changes to meal exchange program cause confusion

Changes to Ithaca College’s meal exchange program from the 2024-25 academic year to the 2025-26 academic year have surprised students and student employees. Many students are confused about what meal exchange options are currently available and what each cafe serves.
The drop of around 200 students enrolled in the School of Humanities and Sciences in the 2022-23 academic year to the 2024-25 academic year shifted H&S from making up 25.86% of the student body to 23.3% of the student body.

The total number of students enrolled in the Ithaca College School of Humanities and Sciences has decreased continuously between the 2022-23 academic year and the 2024-25 academic year.
Luca Maurer — executive director for student equity, inclusion and belonging in the Center for Equity, Inclusion and Belonging — said the Center for EIB helps support affinity groups for faculty and staff like groups focused on supporting early career, LGBTQ+ and remote working faculty and staff.

Harmful algal blooms increase in Cayuga Lake as global temperature rises

In the summer months around Cayuga Lake, familiar green clumps can be spotted on the water. These are harmful algal blooms (HABs), potentially toxic growths of bacteria that can harm people and animals. As Earth's temperature continues to rise, HABs reports have drastically increased over the last four decades, making them a more difficult issue to contain. However, the Ithaca community has many ways of managing them.

Faculty Council discusses creation of creative industries major, talks updates with president

The Ithaca College Faculty Council met Sept. 2 for its first meeting of the 2025-26 academic year to hear updates from President La Jerne Cornish and to confirm council members into their subcommittee positions.
Lewis has previously served as an associate professor, department chair and program coordinator of Ithaca College’s Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies, the Outdoor Adventure Leadership major and Immersion Semester Program.

IC Students for Palestine receive noise complaint at protest over canceled Policy Breakfast

About 10 Ithaca College students and Ithaca community members were issued a noise warning by Rebecca Cogan Carroll, director of ICare and Student Support, while chanting with a bullhorn during a rally hosted by Ithaca College Students for a Free Palestine outside of the Peggy Ryan Williams Center. The rally was in response to the cancellation of the Policy Breakfast at the college featuring local, state and federal members of government.
Huron helped Ithaca College administrators decrease the college's first-year student enrollment target student body size to 4,500 students to make more accurate revenue projections.
