The Ithaca College Student Governance Council met April 22 to hear from first-generation senator LaRon Pigford about a bill he introduced regarding how SGC can assist first-year and transfer students during orientation. The council also met with Jennifer Metzgar, director of Student Health Services, to discuss introducing the new role of health insurance navigator at the Hammond Health Center.

On April 22, Earth Day, students and Ithaca locals gathered on The Commons to declare a climate emergency on “Reclaim Earth Day.” Local groups — like Cornell on Fire and Extinction Rebellion Ithaca — alongside Cornell University, Tompkins Cortland Community College and some Ithaca College students marched to The Commons to participate.

On April 16, Campus Climate Committee co-chairs released a Key Findings report summarizing some important details from the results of the survey that was completed in Fall 2023.
During the last open house of the semester on April 20, about 15 students from Ithaca College participated in a protest and demonstration organized by Ithaca College Students for Palestine (ICSFP). The protest included chants and die-ins at multiple locations on campus, like the Athletics and Events(A&E) Center, the Roy H. Park School of Communications, the Campus Center and the School of Business.

Discontent among Ithaca College students over Fall 2024 housing assignments for apartments prompted action from the Office of Residential Life. For the first time, Res Life allowed students who originally applied for Circle Apartments in groups of four — and could not be allotted one — to reapply in groups of five to potentially secure an apartment.
