Patrol officer shoots wild raccoon

Around 10 p.m. on Saturday, a gunshot was fired by the retention pond on Farm Pond Road.

Thomas Dunn, investigator for the Office of Public Safety,  confirmed there were shots fired.

Dunn said an officer on duty shot a raccoon that he perceived  to be a danger to the campus community. The shot was self-initiated.

“The animal was acting strange and the officer did put a couple rounds into it to put it down,” Dunn said.
