Football: Bombers take victory against Moravian College in season opener

A dominant performance on the ground propelled the Bombers to a 24-0 win against Moravian College Saturday in Bethlehem, Pa.

Senior running back Clay Ardoin ran for a career-high 206 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. Senior running back Jarret Naiden added 114 yards on 22 carries. The duo became the first pair of 100-yard rushers for the Bombers since Jamie Donovan ’07 and Alex Baez ’07 in a win against Alfred University in November 2007.

Junior quarterback Phil Neumann threw 125 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

Meanwhile, the Bombers’ defense held the Greyhounds to 146 total yards and recorded five sacks. The Greyhounds lost two quarterbacks as sophomore Jimmy Lahue left the game at halftime with bruised ribs, and freshman Corey Clemons left with an arm injury late in the third quarter.

The Bombers are off next week, but will host Union College in the home opener at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15.
