Men’s Soccer: Team’s season comes to an end

The men’s soccer team lost 2-1 Saturday in its semifinal match at Stevens Institute of Technology. The Bombers finish the season with a record of 4–10–1 and a fourth place finish in the Empire 8 Conference.

Stevens got an early lead in the fourth minute when senior midfielder Zach Bowman scored a rebound. The Blue and Gold got the equalizer in the 39th minute when sophomore forward James Shankland converted his own blocked shot into a goal. The game remained tied heading into halftime.

In the second half, the Ducks scored the eventual game-winner in the 55th minute. Stevens junior forward Victor Daza received a cross into the box and beat the goalkeeper low.

Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Gentile started for the Bombers and made six saves while Stevens sophomore goalkeeper Paul Killian didn’t make any saves as the Bombers’ lone shot on goal resulted in a goal.

The Ducks will host Elmira College Sunday for the Empire 8 Conference championship.
