The Ithaca College administration took a different approach to the biannual All-College Meeting on Aug. 18. Instead of the traditional meeting structure consisting of updates on the budget, enrollment data or upcoming initiatives, President Tom Rochon focused on two “commitments” to the campus community — diversity and inclusion, and shared governance.
Fifty-nine staff positions were cut in 29 departments at Ithaca College since August 2013 through the workforce analysis initiative.
An Ithaca College administrator announced at the Jan. 21 All-College Meeting that the initiative to cut 40 staff positions over the course of the 2015–16 academic school year will no longer include positions that are currently filled.
President Rochon responded to a question about his salary by resorting to attempts to discredit the college newspaper’s reporting.
Every year before the academic year begins, Ithaca College hosts the All-College Meeting.
The deadline to register for The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Great Colleges program is Feb. 17, but Ithaca College decided against entering again this year.
