BIPOC Unity Center hosts a Kickback

Ithaca College’s BIPOC Unity Center hosted a Kickback event on Feb. 2 as a part of their monthly events for the campus community First Fridays.  The goal of the event was to showcase the multiple multicultural affinity organizations on campus. The Kickback was filled with 18 student organizations like “PODER: Latinx Student Association,” “Brothers for Brothers'' and the “Asian American Alliance” among many others. 95 people attended the event.

I felt so lost coming to Ithaca College, a predominantly white institution and in the middle of a global upheaval. While I have come to know so many amazing peers of color here at Ithaca College, being mixed is a different experience that isn’t discussed nearly as much as it should be, despite the ever-growing presence of young people identifying as multiracial within the last decade.
