Men’s Crew: Third varsity boat prevails on Lake Onota

The men’s crew competed at Lake Quinsigamond against Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Trinity College, University of New Hampshire and Colby College yesterday.
Some members of the men’s crew’s four boats have transferred their experiences from individualistic sports as they adjust to new waters this season.
The men’s crew faced off against Skidmore College and St. Lawrence University at this past weekend’s regatta. The Bombers won three of the four races on Cayuga Inlet. The races are over a 2,000 meter course and each boat consists of eight rowers.

Since the beginning of its season back in October, the men’s swimming and diving team looked at winning its second straight Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association and Empire 8 Conference title as not only a goal, but an expectation.
It doesn’t matter that the Cayuga Inlet was infected with a dangerous plant this fall and the majority of the men’s crew’s roster is full of underclassman with little experience on the water — the team has adopted a no excuses mentality going into the 2012 season.
The men’s swimming and diving team repeated as Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association Empire 8 Conference champions yesterday at the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, N.Y. The Bombers finished 187 points ahead of second place Stevens Institute of Technology at the meet.
The men’s swimming and diving team tied a single-season record for wins by defeating Union College 204-96 on Saturday at the Athletics & Events Center Pool. The Bombers finished 16-1 on the season and celebrated the final regular season home meet for seniors Antoine Connors, Tyler Kenton, Derek Rand, Jeff Rapp and captain James Sica.
The men’s swimming and diving team had a productive weekend. It defeated conference foe Alfred University 192.5-106.5 at the Athletics & Events Center Pool on Saturday, then had eight divers post NCAA-qualifying scores at yesterday’s Dick Comanzo Memorial Diving Invitational.
