Q&A: Local author and Tompkins County Legislature’s guide to Ithaca’s unique charm

Amanda Jaros Champion released her new book “100 Things to Do in Ithaca Before You Die” Sept. 1. This marks Champion’s second published book after “Labor of Love: A Literary Mama Staff Anthology” released Jan. 26. Champion has lived in Ithaca for about 24 years and has been serving on the Tompkins County Legislature since 2018. Staff writer Liam McDermott spoke with Champion about her new book and the inspiration behind it, including her history with the City of Ithaca.

Ithaca College student Tim O'Dowd is on the scene at the 2024 Downtown Ithaca Chili Cook-Off to test this year's entries for Ithaca's best chili.

Six current members of the Ithaca College men's lacrosse team, along with three former members, live together off-campus in addition to being teammates. According to a 2015 study by the NCAA, 43% of men and 36% of women who are student-athletes choose to live exclusively with other student-athletes.

Weekly Summer Concert Series Features Local Musicians

Each Thursday from July 8 to Sept. 9, Downtown Ithaca has hosted the Summer Concert Series. Every week a different musician has performed. On Aug. 19 “Noon Fifteen” performed at the Bernie Milton Pavilion. 

The campus community was informed of the incident at 10:49 a.m. Oct. 16 via an email from the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management (OPS). According to the email, the Ithaca Police Department (IPD) is investigating the burglary with support from the OPS. It was reported that someone broke into the building, stole a television and fell asleep in the building.

IPD warns students about people getting drugged in bars
