The national labor shortage and the “Great Resignation” have impacted colleges and universities across the country throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and created low levels of faculty, staff and administrative retention. 

IC adjusts to high staff, faculty and administrative turnover

Ithaca College continues to be affected by staffing shortages as the college rebuilds its leadership departments and deals with staff, faculty and administrative turnover.
In a May 3 email to the college community, President La Jerne Cornish announced that Ferro, who has worked at the college since 2017, will become the Chief of Education at College Track, an organization that works to aid students in confronting systemic barriers as they work to complete bachelors degrees. College Track is currently led by former President Shirley M. Collado, who recently left the college Jan. 10, 2022. 

Vice president of Student Affairs to step down June 24

Rosanna Ferro, vice president for student affairs and campus life, is stepping down from her position and leaving Ithaca College June 24, 2022.
After Shirley M. Collado, former president of Ithaca College, departed her position, the college has established a new scholarship that will aim to give tuition assistance to first-generation students in her name.

Collado will be receiving the Latin honor President Emerita — a Latin honors distinction awarded when one leaves an institution that allows them to retain the title of their position.
