Kari Brossard Stoos, associate professor and associate chair of the Department of Health Sciences and Public Health, will be teaching three new health courses in Spring 2025 called Introduction to One Health, Let’s Talk about Periods and Antibiotic Resistance: The Creeping Pandemic. Brossard Stoos said these courses are an effort to educate health care leaders-in-the-making about the World Health Organization’s objectives and provide a space for students to discuss pressing global health care concerns.

Donald Simpson, special assistant to the vice president for academic affairs at the University of Louisiana Monroe, located in Monroe, Louisiana, was the third and final candidate for the dean search for the School of Human Health Sciences and Human Performance at Ithaca College.
Kristin Landis-Piwowar visited the campus community Feb. 12 to engage with students, staff and faculty of the college. She was the first candidate for the position to present and visit the college.

First HSHP Dean candidate presents ideas on equity strategies and interdisciplinary studies

Kristin Landis-Piwowar, associate provost for academic affairs at Oakland University located in Rochester, Michigan, was the first candidate for the Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance to visit the Ithaca College campus and engage with the community. She presented Feb. 12 in the Klingenstein Lounge, with 17 campus community members in attendance, both faculty and staff.
Susan Salahshor, assistant professor and director of the physician assistant (PA) program, discussed how the role of practicing physician assistants has changed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

School of HSHP hosts discussion series about COVID-19 impact

In November, a group of students delivered health promotion lessons to youth at the Salamanca City Youth Center. They pose with snack bags they packed for the children.

The last students to complete the sport studies major, members of the classes of 2016–18, pose in front of the Dillingham Fountains in Fall 2015. The sport studies major is now only offered as a minor, and additionally Ithaca College faculty and administrators announced a proposal to split up the Department of Sport Management and Media April 29 during a town hall meeting.
