Typically, the Red Dragon that lives 22 miles east of Ithaca only gets widespread and national coverage in mid-November for the annual Cortaca Jug football game as the “biggest little game in the nation.” However, SUNY Cortland is seen as a rival in the eyes of the Bombers’ athletic programs all year round.

The Ithaca College gymnastics team traveled to SUNY Cortland to compete in the Empire State Collegiate Championship on Feb. 14. The Bombers placed No. 5 out of six teams, behind Long Island University, Cornell University, SUNY Brockport, Cortland and ahead of Utica University.

Despite falling to the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons 192.800-191.350, Ithaca College gymnastics finished its last home meet of the 2026 season by making history, breaking the all-time IC gymnastics program team score in floor exercise, a 48.950, Feb. 11 in the Ben Light Gymnasium. The Bombers also posted their highest score of the season by 1.4 points.

The Ithaca College gymnastics team lost on senior day by the largest margin all season to the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles and SUNY Cortland Red Dragons at the annual Harriett Marranca Invitational in Ben Light Gymnasium Feb. 8.

Ithaca College gymnastics placed first in a tri-meet against the Rhode Island College Anchormen and the Springfield College Pride on Feb. 1 in the Ben Light Gymnasium. The Bombers emerged on top with 189.575, the Anchormen settled in second at 187.900 and the Pride fell to the bottom of the podium with 186.800.

The Ithaca College gymnastics team opened its season at home against the Ursinus College Bears in a dual matchup 189.950-188.475 Jan. 18 in the Ben Light Gymnasium. The Bombers had their strongest performance on floor exercise, totaling an impressive score of 48.700 and averaging 9.740.
The Ithaca College gymnastics team qualified seven gymnasts to compete at this year’s National Collegiate Gymnastics Association championships in Collegeville, Pennsylvania on March 23.
The Ithaca College gymnastics team finished fourth at the 2024 NCGA East Region Championships in Ben Light Gymnasium on March 9. SUNY Brockport took home the meet's crown, while SUNY Cortland and Rhode Island College took second and third.
The No. 73 Ithaca College gymnastics defeated the No. 82 Springfield College Pride 192.05–189.175 on Feb. 4. This comes after a season low 187.550 score for the Bombers the previous weekend, which gave the Bombers a last place finish at a quad meet at West Chester University on Jan. 27.
During the 2023 season, the Ithaca College gymnastics team found great success, placing sixth at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association championships, which made it their fourth consecutive year finishing in the top six.
During the beginning of the 2022 Winter sports season, the Ithaca College gymnastics team has benefited from strong performances of its freshman class.
