‘Popcorn Premieres’ – BAFTAs and Box Office Weekend of Feb. 16

February 21, 2024
First year student hosts Logan Thompson and Ethan Kaufman analyze the results of the 2024 British Academy Film Arts (BAFTA) Awards and how they might hint to Oscar Award wins. Thompson and Kaufman then share their thoughts on this weekend's top movies at the box office.
From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos comes the incredible tale of Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe).

‘Poor Things’ perfectly captures discomfort and charm

By Sarah Payne, Staff Writer January 24, 2024
“Poor Things,” a masterpiece directed by Yorgos Lantimos and released Dec. 8, is inspired by the Alasdair Gray novel of the same name and is one of the most funky, refreshing movies to be made this decade. In an era of continuous biopics and stereotypically “relatable” characters taking center stage, witnessing a story full of characters that audiences can understand and resonate with is inspiring and monotony-breaking.
