Ithaca became a sanctuary city for abortions July 6 after the Common Council voted unanimously to make the ordinance brought forth by Alderperson Robert Cantelmo into city law.Â
The Supreme Court of the United States ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade — a 1973 landmark ruling that protected citizen’s rights to an abortion — in a 5–4 decision June 24.
