Both the Ithaca College and the SUNY Cortland football teams are coming into the 59th annual Cortaca Jug game with a 6–3 record.
The football team defeated Union College 20–3 Nov. 4 at Butterfield Stadium. With the win, the Bombers move up in the Liberty League standings.
The football team shutout Utica College 14–0 on the road Oct. 28. This was the Bombers third shutout in two seasons.
After coming off its previous loss to RPI on the road Oct. 14 27–14, the football team defeated St. John Fisher College Oct. 21 35–10 at home.
The football team lost their first Liberty League conference matchup against RPI Oct. 14 by the score of 28–14.

After former head coach Mike Welch retired after 23 seasons, the football team will be lead by a new coaching staff for the 2017 season.
