Following the discovery of the first swastika in Baker Walkway, Interim President La Jerne Cornish sent an email to the campus community condemning the symbol Feb 4. After the second swastika was found in Whalen, the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management sent out an alert Feb. 8 to the campus community.

Two swastikas found drawn in Ithaca College campus buildings

Since Feb. 3, two separate swastikas have been found drawn on the IC campus. Both are under investigation –– one as a potential vandalism hate crime.
Ivy Walz served as the interim dean of the School of Music during the 2021–22 academic year. In 2020, Walz stepped into an administrative role as assistant dean after former dean Karl Paulnack stepped down at the end of the 2019–20 academic year. 

BREAKING: Swastika found scratched on poster in Whalen

A swastika has been found scratched on a poster in a practice room in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. 
An L.A. Confidential movie poster hung in the basement of the Roy H. Park School of Communications was vandalized with the message "believe survivors." The movie starred now disgraced actor Kevin Spacey.
