A swastika has been found scratched onto a poster in a practice room in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. 

In a Feb. 8 public safety alert, the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management said that the incident was reported in the afternoon of Feb. 8, but that the incident occurred between the morning of Feb. 2 and 8. This comes after a swastika was discovered drawn onto a window of the Baker Walkway on Feb. 3. While it is unknown if the two incidents are connected, Baker Walkway connects the James J. Whalen Center for Music and the Towers parking lot (J-Lot). 

The alert stated that Public Safety is investigating the incident as a potential vandalism hate crime, but the suspect is not known at this time. 

On Feb. 3, Interim President La Jerne Cornish notified the campus community about the act of antisemitism, but because the swastika was scratched into a poster, which is vandalism, Public Safety alerted the campus community Feb. 8.
