Linda Petrosino ’77, M.S. ’78, retiring dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance, has been the dean of the School of HSHP since 2012 and has facilitated the development of programs, partnerships and strategic goals.

In an email sent to the Ithaca College community March 2, Melanie Stein, provost and senior vice president of academic affairs, announced the retirement of Linda Petrosino ’78 as dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance.

In the 2023–24 academic year, Christina Moylan, associate provost for graduate and professional studies, will be taking over as interim dean of the School of HSHP

Petrosino worked at the college for 11 years as dean and a professor in the Department of Speech, Language and Pathology. Prior to taking on her roles at the college, Petrosino worked at Bowling Green State University’s College of Health and Human Services. In the 2014–15 and 2016–18 academic year, Petrosino served as interim provost and as vice president for educational affairs.

Moylan previously served as associate provost for graduate and professional studies and as  director of public health emergency preparedness in the 2020–21 academic year.

In the email, Stein thanked Petrosino for her contributions to the college.

“I have been particularly grateful for Linda’s steady collaboration and support since even before my arrival at Ithaca College in 2019,” Stein wrote in the email. “Her institutional knowledge and mentoring have been so important to me personally as I navigated transitions into and within the college, and this year she again brought her calming, warm, and consummately professional demeanor to the dean team.”

Stein welcomed Moylan in her email and thanked her for taking over as interim dean of the School of HSHP

Christina’s wealth of knowledge has prepared her well to lead the school through this transition, and I am grateful for her willingness to serve the college in this capacity as we conduct a national search for the next dean,” Stein wrote in the email.
