The Ithaca College men’s soccer team defeated the Marywood University Pacers 4–0 Sept. 10 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. This was the Bombers’ first win of the season and Marywood’s second loss of the season. The Bombers’ record is now 1–3 on the season and the Pacers’ record is now 1–2.
The Bombers’ first goal of the game came in the 18th minute when sophomore midfielder Nathan Schoen put one in the net, assisted by senior middle and forward Sam Boylan and freshman midfielder Kevin Turi, to give the Bombers a 1–0 lead.
Sophomore forward Alexander Brosnihan doubled the lead for the Bombers off an indirect kick, assisted by Boylan. Three minutes into the second half, Brosnihan scored his second goal of the day to make it 3–0, assisted by Turi.
The Bombers would get their last goal of the game in the 55th minute, when middle Nathan Schoen scored his second goal of the day off a cross into the box. in the 81st minute. The goal was assisted by senior midfielder Scott Halpern.
Sophomore middle Tyler Hiney said it felt great to get in the win column today heading into their first home game of the season.
“Winning today was the greatest feeling. We felt that we could have won all our previous games but we fell short,” Hiney said. “Coming home with a win and playing on Tuesday at home feels great. I feel like we’re building up momentum off of this win and we can come in Tuesday and come out with the win.”
The Bombers will play Wells College at 4 p.m. Sept. 13 at Carp Wood Field.
