IC women’s soccer scores 7 goals in win against Utica

The Ithaca College women’s soccer team improved its record to 5–1–2 after it defeated the Utica College Pioneers 7 – 0 on Sept. 28 in Utica, New York. This was the Bombers’ first Empire 8 conference win of the season, bringing their conference record to 1–0–1.

The Bombers dominated the first half. They put up 19 shots while holding the Pioneers to only two. Scoring broke open in the 15th minute of play as senior Jocelyn Ravesi netted her fifth goal of the season off an assist from senior Holly Niemiec. Just three minutes later, the roles reversed as Niemiec scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Ravesi. The final goal of the half was scored by sophomore Shoshana Bedrosian in the 43rd minute.

At halftime, the Bombers had secured themselves a safe lead of 3 – 0, but refused to let up the pressure.

Just one minute into the second half, Niemiec scored her second goal of the game off another assist from Ravesi. Ravesi was able to score her second goal of the game off a pass from senior Lindsey Parkins under ten minutes into the half.

Senior Mallory Chick entered the game for the Bombers for her first game all season and  scored the sixth goal outside the box off an assist from sophomore Reid Garner. The Bombers finished their scoring explosion with an unassisted goal from Garner in the 88th minute to finish the game.

The Bombers outshot their opponents 34 to three throughout the 90 minutes. Goalkeeper Stacey DiGiorgio was credited with her fourth win of the season, while senior goalkeeper Karen Macke was given the opportunity to finish the game.

The Bombers return home to Carp Wood Field at 4 p.m. Oct. 4 against Rochester Institute of Technology.
