The Ithaca College men’s and women’s cross-country teams competed at the Hamilton College Invitational Oct. 8 at the Hamilton College Golf Course in Clinton, New York. The women’s team finished in third place out of 11 teams with 81 points and the men’s team finished in sixth place out of 14 teams with 171 points.
Hamilton College earned top honors in the men’s field with a score of 43. East Stroudsburg University defeated the women’s field with a score of 47.
Sophomore Amanda St. Clair led the way for the women’s squad with her eighth-place time of 19:24.0. Graduate student Christina Gibble crossed the finish line a little over three seconds behind St. Clair.
Freshman Sarah Rudge was the next highest scorer for the Bombers with her fifteenth-place time of 19:35.0. Five of the top seven scorers for the women’s team were underclassmen.
For the men’s squad, junior Eric Melcer placed the highest in 25th place with a time of 27:01.3.
The next two highest scorers were freshman Garrett Bampos and sophomore John Blake, who finished in 33rd and 34th place with times of 27:22.4 and 27:26.5, respectively.
Both teams will race on Oct. 15 at the Rowan University NCAA Pre-Regionals in Glassboro, New Jersey.
