Tabling event will test students on different harmful substances
The Alcohol & Others Substances Team (AOD Team) will be hosting the Know Your Limits: Alcohol Tabling Event from noon until 2:00 p.m. Nov. 1 in Textor Hallway, next to the Career Center for Exploration & Development. The event will give attendees the opportunity to learn more about harm reduction information for alcohol and other substances. Participants can test their knowledge of standard drinks through games and learn about how alcohol affects them. BIPOC Unity Center will host s’mores for campus community
The BIPOC Unity Center will be holding Unity Friday: S’mores on the Quad from 5:00–7:00 p.m. Nov. 1 on the Campus Center Quad Lawn. The event is one of the BIPOC Unity Center’s monthly Unity Friday events, which are held with the intention of building community and creating culturally validating spaces for IC students. Community service opportunity to improve Natural Lands trail
Nature Rx and IC Community Service will be overseeing a community service pop-up from 2:00–4:00 p.m. Nov. 1 in the IC Natural Lands. Participants who volunteer will be teaming up with student leaders who maintain the Natural Lands to make improvements to the trail near Boothroyd Hall. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, but gloves and necessary tools will be provided. Students invited to join election night self-care activity safe space
Students are invited to attend Breathe & Reflect: Election Night Self-Care Space from 7:00–11:00 p.m. Nov. 5 in Towers Marketplace. The event is intended to provide students with an opportunity to unwind and engage in self-care while dealing with the stress of election night. Students can participate in a variety of activities, like rock painting, playing relaxing games, stress ball building, bracelet making and coloring. There will also be massage chairs for students to use and giveaways to promote mental well-being. Wysa, the new app used by Ithaca College to promote mental well-being on campus, will also have resources available for students to learn more about the app. Individuals who have questions or require accommodations can contact [email protected].
Intercultural Career Connections Panel will feature diverse alumni
The campus community is invited to attend the Intercultural Career Connections Panel (ICCP) Event from 5:00–8:00 p.m. Nov. 7 in Emerson Suites. This year’s panel is themed “Trailblazing Together,” and will feature a variety of alumni representing different identities and professions as they discuss their personal and professional journeys, accomplishments and challenges. The event will also feature a free BBQ dinner from 5:00–6:00 p.m., followed by the panel discussion from 6:00–7:00 p.m. and the opportunity for attendees to speak and network with the featured panelists from 7:00–8:00 p.m. Those who wish to participate must RSVP on IC Engage to reserve a spot, and any students who wish to receive Student Leadership Institute credit for the event must RSVP at least 24 hours in advance.
Faculty and staff invited to join an office chair yoga workshop
The Women’s Mentoring Network will be hosting Office Chair Yoga from 12:30–1:30 p.m. Nov. 7 over Zoom. The event is open to Ithaca College faculty and staff, who can join Crissi Dalfonzo, the director of the LGBTQ Center and a certified yoga teacher, to engage in office chair yoga poses they can do from their desks. The virtual class will teach participants poses to use throughout their day and does not require any additional supplies or apparel. Cornell hosts name change clinic for all New York state residents
The Cornell LGBT Resource Center will be hosting a name change clinic for New York state residents from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at 626 Thurston Ave. Participants will have the opportunity to work with lawyers from the Volunteer Lawyers Project of CNY to begin the process of a legal name change, and Ithaca College students have been invited to participate as well. Appointments are required and registration closes Nov. 4. Ithaca College students can register and view the list of requirements to participate on IC Engage.
Microsoft Shifts webinar to teach new users about key features
The campus community is invited to attend the Introduction to Microsoft Shifts webinar from 3:30–4:00 p.m. Nov. 6. The session will provide new users with an overview of how to use the application for efficient scheduling, team management and communication. Users will also learn about the application’s key features and learning resources. Those interested can apply through the intercom post, which also includes a list of articles with more information about Shifts. Students invited to sign up for resume and cover letter sesssion
The Center for Career Exploration & Development will be hosting a Student Leadership Institute leading self session, Resumes That Rock, Cover Letters That Crush, from 2:00–3:00 p.m. Nov. 7. The session will teach participants how to approach resumes and cover letters and use them to tell their own professional stories. Students who wish to receive Student Leadership Institute credit for the workshop must RSVP through IC Engage at least 24 hours in advance.
