The Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team took home a fierce, yet challenging Liberty League Championship Tournament win April 5, defeating St. Lawrence University Saints 10-7. The stands were filled with fans as the Bombers got their seventh win of the season and their fourth in conference play.
The first quarter was filled with stamina as both the Bombers and the Saints came out hungry for the win. However, the Bombers’ offensive lineup is one to prepare for, with players like senior midfielder Elizabeth Green, graduate student midfielder Lexi Kellish and junior midfielder Lily Cody, the Bombers played with aggression within the first quarter.
“This was an important win for us,” Cody said. “This is our fourth conference win and we really wanted it today, and I think you were able to see that chemistry between us throughout our game today on the field.”
In the first quarter, the South Hill squad was able to find the back of the net twice, as Cody and first-year attacker/midfielder Kathryn Scallon were able to get the job done.
However, junior attacker Leigh Naturale has had a huge season, with two assists during this matchup accumulating to 17 assists overall.

“It is not just about me,” Naturale said. “It is a team sport and we play as a unit, so being able to assist my teammates is special.”
In the second quarter, the Saints came back with two goals, but that was not enough to overcome the Bombers offense because the Bombers scored one more time before the end of the half, with a score of 3-2.
The second half showed what the South Hill squad truly brings to the field. The Bombers scored another seven times, with Green leading the team, scoring four of the 10.
However, the fourth quarter was nail-biting as the Saints scored four times in a row, trailing right behind the Bombers, but Green came to the rescue. The Saints have been one of the Bombers’ toughest matchups that the Bombers have faced so far this season, which made this win even more rewarding.
St. Lawrence put more emphasis on its defense as it fell behind by three points. Yet, the Bombers’ offense got stronger throughout this half. The day came to a close when first-year goalkeeper Mikaela Dattilo made her ninth save of the game.
The Bombers will play next 4 p.m. April 9 against the William Smith College Herons in Geneva, NY.
