Three cross-country runners — senior Sawyer Hitchcock and sophomores Taryn Cordani and Denise Ibarra — competed at the NCAA Division III Championship on Nov. 21 in Winneconne, Wisconsin.
Cordani and Hitchcock were automatic qualifiers to the national championship after placing second and seventh, respectively, in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championships. Ibarra placed 14th, an All-Region effort.
Cordani earned All-American honors at nationals, completing the 6k course in 21:36.30 to place her 14th out of 280 competitors. This was her first year competing in the NCAA Championship for cross-country. She will be entering her third season with the Bombers on the track and field team following the conclusion of the cross-country season.
Ibarra placed 104th, finishing in 22:22.70, less than a minute behind Cordani.
This was Hitchcock’s final year competing in the NCAA Championship for cross-country. His final 8k race was completed in 25:17.70. His time earned him 64th place out of the 278 individuals who competed.
Both men’s and women’s cross-country seasons have now concluded.
