Ithaca College Students for Justice in Palestine (ICSJP) hosted a listen-in, their final event of Spring 2024. The event was held at the Free Speech Rock on May 8, where students spoke about their experiences on campus, past protests and the history of the Israel-Hamas war.

Cornell University President Martha Pollack announced that she will be retiring on June 30 after serving in the position for over seven years.
Sophomore Rishabh Sen, president of the student body for the 2024–25 academic year, leads the SGC May 6  meeting to confirm the positions of senate chair, club athlete senator and senator-at-large.
SGC holds confirmations for unfilled positions

The Ithaca College Student Governance Council (SCG) met May 6 to have its first meeting with the newly elected members of SGC and hold confirmations for the positions of senate chair, club athlete senator and senator-at-large.
Belisa González spoke with the Ithaca College faculty council May 7 about the Campus Climate Survey results and key findings. The meeting concluded faculty council for Spring 2024, but will resume in Fall 2024.

The Ithaca College Faculty Council met May 7 with new members of the council in attendance. The new and continuing members voted on the Faculty Council Executive Committee’s 2024-25 chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, Academic Policies Committee liaison and two “at large” Academic Policies Committee liaisons.

NYSP charges off-duty Cornell officer with DWI after hitting IC student

An Ithaca College student was struck by a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Blake A. Curtis, a Cornell University police officer, around 1:30 a.m. May 4. The student was identified as 19-year-old Max Ross who is in stable condition at Robert Packer Hospital, according to a New York State Police press release.

The No. 8 ranked Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team took care of business at home against No. 23 ranked Shenandoah University Hornets 18–6 on May 12 to advance to the third round of the NCAA tournament. 
Art Donaldson (Mike Faist), Tashi Duncan (Zendaya) and Patrick Zweig (Josh O’Connor) are all high-performing and entangled tennis players in Luca Guadagnino’s newest film, “Challengers.”

When it comes to desire, passion and lustfulness, Luca Guadagnino is an expert at capturing it — the excitement, the thrill and even the shame of it all. He has proven himself capable of seducing the audience through his depictions of sensible and, at times, out of the box erotisms. It’s no surprise then when Guadadino and novelist-playwright Justin Kuritzkes take tennis, one of the most erotic sports, and craft a restlessly sexy, infuriating film in “Challengers.” Since its release April 26, “Challengers” has become No.1 in the box office with a domestic gross of $15 million.

From nationwide sit-ins during the Civil Rights Movement to more local movements, like protests advocating for the removal of former Ithaca College president Tom Rochon, students’ voices have consistently been a catalyst for change. Today, students’ right to free speech is being threatened nationwide.
