The Ithaca College baseball team started its season strong, backed by a youth core that includes three first-year starters Anthony Mestre, Isaiah Smith and Zach Barron. Mestre and Smith make up two-thirds of the Bombers’ outfield, while Barron is the starting shortstop.

Young core pushes baseball to 7-4 start

When reading through the lineup card of the Ithaca College baseball team, three names stick out: first-year outfielders Anthony Mestre and Isaiah Smith and infielder Zach Barron. The three players are regulars in the Bombers’ starting nine.
Will Gladney ’20, is one of three coaching staff members to be promoted under new head coach Brandon Maguire. Gladney, the programs’ all-time leading receiver as a player, scored a touchdown in the 2019 Cortaca win at Metlife Stadium and now holds a full-time position mentoring current players.

Football head coach Brandon Maguire announced the promotion of three staff members March 19, including naming Will Margraff the new defensive coordinator. Maguire makes his first coaching staff moves after being hired Feb. 3 to succeed Michael Toerper. 
The Ithaca College women’s track and field team and men’s wrestling team named four total All-Americans at the NCAA Championships on March 13-14 but did not see any national champions.

The Ithaca College women’s track and field team and men’s wrestling team each competed in the NCAA Championships on March 13-14 and did not have any national champions, but saw a total of four athletes be named All-Americans. 
After making the decision to leave the women's rowing team, sophomore Smeena Gill is focusing on building a career in sports instead.

Former varsity athlete channels love for sports into career

In February, sophomore Smeena Gill was calling races as a coxswain for the Ithaca College women’s rowing and sculling team. After walking on as a first-year student, Gill quickly rose through the team’s ranks. She went from being the novice eight’s coxswain to calling the shots for the second varsity eight boat during Fall 2025.

First home game for women’s lacrosse brings a disappointing loss in double overtime

After fighting into double overtime, the No. 23 Ithaca College women’s lacrosse fell 15-14 to the University of Scranton Royals on March 7 at Higgins Stadium. The Bombers held a steady lead from the middle of the first quarter into the fourth quarter, but could not hang on to the No. 17 Division III team. The team’s first home game of 2026 also marked its first loss of the season.

Dominant third quarter drives men’s lacrosse to first home win of 2026

The Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team opened up its home season with a down to the wire 9-8 win against the Nazareth University Golden Flyers on March 4 at Higgins Stadium, bumping their record to 2-2. The Bombers’ productive third quarter was essential, producing five out of the nine goals and allowing just one.

Swim and dive teams celebrate historic unified win

On the fourth day of the long and intense Liberty League Championships which ran from Feb. 18 to Feb. 21, the Ithaca College men’s and women’s swimming and diving head coach Mike Blakely-Armitage ’00 found himself in a pool, clothed in full business attire and a tie. 
Junior Helena Winterberg and the other three athletes on the golf team look forward to taking the green again after a successful fall season and months of practicing in the golf simulator.

Golf looks to build on successful fall campaign

Riding the momentum of three first-place finishes in Fall 2025, including a fourth straight St. Lawrence Invitational title, the Ithaca College women’s golf team hopes to claim its second Liberty League crown after finishing third last year and in a tie for second in 2024.
