When reading through the lineup card of the Ithaca College baseball team, three names stick out: first-year outfielders Anthony Mestre and Isaiah Smith and infielder Zach Barron. The three players are regulars in the Bombers’ starting nine.

Football head coach Brandon Maguire announced the promotion of three staff members March 19, including naming Will Margraff the new defensive coordinator. Maguire makes his first coaching staff moves after being hired Feb. 3 to succeed Michael Toerper.Â
The Ithaca College women’s track and field team and men’s wrestling team each competed in the NCAA Championships on March 13-14 and did not have any national champions, but saw a total of four athletes be named All-Americans.Â
In February, sophomore Smeena Gill was calling races as a coxswain for the Ithaca College women’s rowing and sculling team. After walking on as a first-year student, Gill quickly rose through the team’s ranks. She went from being the novice eight’s coxswain to calling the shots for the second varsity eight boat during Fall 2025.Â

After fighting into double overtime, the No. 23 Ithaca College women’s lacrosse fell 15-14 to the University of Scranton Royals on March 7 at Higgins Stadium. The Bombers held a steady lead from the middle of the first quarter into the fourth quarter, but could not hang on to the No. 17 Division III team. The team’s first home game of 2026 also marked its first loss of the season.

The Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team opened up its home season with a down to the wire 9-8 win against the Nazareth University Golden Flyers on March 4 at Higgins Stadium, bumping their record to 2-2. The Bombers’ productive third quarter was essential, producing five out of the nine goals and allowing just one.Â

On the fourth day of the long and intense Liberty League Championships which ran from Feb. 18 to Feb. 21, the Ithaca College men’s and women’s swimming and diving head coach Mike Blakely-Armitage ’00 found himself in a pool, clothed in full business attire and a tie.Â
On the final weekend of the regular season, the Ithaca College women’s basketball team concluded its worst season in program history, finishing its 2025-26 schedule 9-16 and No. 8 in the Liberty League.
Through community connections, Ithaca College is collaborating with sponsors that support student athletes by providing food, nutrition education, discounts and other resources.Â
The Athletics and Events Center buzzed with excitement Feb. 27 and 28 as Ithaca College’s men’s wrestling team had five wrestlers punch their tickets to the Division III NCAA National Championship and had a runner-up finish as a team.

Riding the momentum of three first-place finishes in Fall 2025, including a fourth straight St. Lawrence Invitational title, the Ithaca College women’s golf team hopes to claim its second Liberty League crown after finishing third last year and in a tie for second in 2024.Â
