Shots fired on South Plain Street

Members of the Ithaca Police Department responded to a report of shots fired around 7:04 p.m. near the 400 block of West Green Street. A 21-year-old male on South Plain Street sustained a gunshot wound to his body, the IPD said in a media release.

The victim was conscious when police arrived but provided no information at the scene. The man was transported to a trauma center by Bangs Ambulance, where he will be undergoing surgery. The IPD released information that the victim was arguing with another man on the street before the shooting.

The IPD and the Ithaca Fire Department are not commenting at this time, and the investigation is still ongoing.
