Ithaca College women’s soccer team defeats SUNY New Paltz 5–0

The Ithaca College women’s soccer team beat SUNY New Paltz 5–0 Sept. 4 in the Michelle Vargas-Robin Memorial Tournament in New Paltz, New York.

Senior forward Megan Nash scored the first goal in the ninth minute, with an assist from senior forward Jocelyn Ravesi. After assisting with the first goal, Ravesi led the Bombers, who are ranked 23rd nationally, to a 2–0 lead after hitting the back of the net in the 25th minute, scoring her first goal of the season.

Before the first half ended, senior midfielder Taylor Baranowsky scored against the Hawks, giving the Blue and Gold a 3–0 advantage. Soon after Baranowsky’s goal, sophomore midfielder Shoshana Bedrosian scored her first career goal. Bedrosian took a shot from the top of the box, giving the Bombers a 4–0 lead going into halftime.

The intensity didn’t die down after the break, and senior forward Holly Niemiec assisted Ravesi in scoring her second goal of the game, bringing the score to 5–0.

The Bombers’ defense worked hard to put the pressure on the Hawks, who were only able to attempt one shot throughout the whole match.

With this victory, Ithaca is now 2–0 on the season. The Bombers look to continue their success in their home opener when they face SUNY Oneonta at 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at Carp Wood Field.
